Garden of the Gods

Located in Colorado USA, the Garden of the Gods is a unique red rock formation which has been millions of years in the making.

The basis for the rock formation was laid down in what was known as the Triassic period.
The red color is unique to this area of the world, and incredibly took about 240 million years to become what it is today.

The rocks have, over time, built up to jagged cliffs and rugged peaks which rise above canyons that are many hundreds of feet deep, while other formations jut upwards in awe inspiring splendor.

The breathtaking sandstone monoliths are a living history which tells us of animal and plant life in the Colorado area for the past 250 million years.

As you are looking upward at the stately red sandstone rocks, you are also viewing an ancient prehistory, and as you travel the trails you are walking the same path where dinosaurs heavy trod also walked. A story of prehistoric America is what you are living.

To build the red rock formations, the earth moved gradually, over a period of many million years. This raised the ledges and peaks slowly into walls of red sandstone, a living history book.

Within the area are also dinosaur tracks that lend the truth to the story of the amazing Jurassic giants travel across this area.

Many of these rock formations, particularly those which are closer to Denver are taller than Niagara Falls.

The depth of what you see below will amaze you, as you stand at the top looking down.
The heights from which you are looking are dizzying, while the view is simply breathtaking.
